ABOUT ME

I Used to Build Temporary Worlds. Now I Build Solid Foundations.

My name is Robert Scott.

For 19 years, I worked in Hollywood building movie sets. I am a member of SAG/AFTRA and have worked on everything from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button to Yo Gabba Gabba.

My job was to create illusions. We would frame a wall, paint it to look like ancient stone, light it perfectly, and shoot the scene. It looked real on camera. But if you leaned against it, you’d fall right through.

For a long time, that was a metaphor for my life.

I was the “Old School Gym Rat.” I had the exterior built. I had the family (4 kids, married 30+ years). I had the career. But underneath, I was living on “Paper Lines”—boundaries I set for myself that looked good on the surface but tore the moment life applied pressure.

The Collector of Dots

I am an enthusiast. I am a collector of dots.

I’ve been a missionary. I’ve been a set builder. I’ve been a father. I’ve been a lifter. For years, I thought these were random, disconnected phases of my life.

I realized that nothing is wasted. All that random stuff you have been picking up in life? It’s not clutter. It’s inventory. We are going to use it all.

The dream is the flint

I write a lot about dreaming, but not in the way the “gurus” do. They tell you the dream is the destination. I’m telling you the dream is the flint.

You need the dream to spark the fire. But flint alone doesn’t keep you warm. You need the fuel. You need the structure. You need the One Step systems to turn that spark into a flame that doesn’t go out when the wind blows.

The One Step Philosophy

I started the One Step Club to help men take that spark and build a fire that lasts. I combine three specific tools to rebuild character from the ground up:

  1. Ancient Philosophy (The Form): Using Stoicism to create the mental framework.
  2. Modern Neuroscience (The Concrete): Using biology to lock that framework in place.
  3. The Builder Mindset (The Tools): Using the discipline of the trade to do the work.

I am not here to just motivate you. Motivation fades. I am the gym partner who is going to help you carry the load. I am the Crew Boss who knows how to navigate the chaos of a hot set.

We aren’t trying to “edit” our past mistakes. We are hitting the Return Key. We are dropping down to a fresh line.

We are going to take all those random dots you’ve collected and connect them into the life you were destined to live.

Welcome to the crew. Let’s get to work.
